The deed is done! The dress has been found, everyone! So, here's the story seen through my eyes:
(2:00p.m. Thursday afternoon) I think, "Baahhh! Why am I still in class?! The sun is shining, the birdies are chirping, and there are dresses to be bought!" ... and so went the last twenty minutes of my class... sigh.
(3:25p.m. Thursday afternoon) My mom, my sis-in-law (Carly), and another bridesmaid (Anita) leave for the store even though the appointment is only at 4:00p.m., but hey, never hurts to look around.
The door clangs, and high school drama queens flood the store like crazed vultures fighting for the last piece of meat (meaning most expensive designer prom dress...typical). I wouldn't have minded if we decided at that very moment to turn our rears around and bee-line back to the car, but NO! I must face the facts and get it over with. I know, my attitude at first was a bit of a downer, but just wait, it gets better.
Alyssa, the consultant, greets us with her baby belly in tow (SO cute), and ask the typical questions: What do you like? Strapless? Lace? Beading? Tulle? My head begins to spin...A-line? Mermaid? Etc? Etc? At that moment, the only thing I could manage to pull out of the hat, "I don't like beading, spaghetti straps, and A-line skirts.... I think". Brilliant, I know. It's OK, you're allowed to laugh.
We begin to pull dress after dress after dress, and the dressing room grows smaller as the tulle and taffeta paint the walls a claustrophobic white... or ivory, off-white, whatever your prefer. Time to try them on.
The first one I chose was not even a contender. The second, not so sure either. Beautiful, lacey, mermaid with some slight beading on the sides. I must admit: I looked fabulous, but so not like the young, fun bride I wanted to be. OK, onto the third (drum roll please.....do it, you know you want to).
Everything about it was perfect, I mean NO QUESTION perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. Mom knew it. Carly and Anita knew it. Even Alyssa. I'm leaving it as a surprise to you because my fiance does read this, and there is no way he is getting any hints. Love you, dear! So there it was, but just to be sure, a few more dresses wouldn't hurt anybody.
Nothing compared. Some didn't even get zipped up before they were nixed. The decision was easy. I had said Yes! to the Dress
So as I reach into my purse for my camera, I grabbed my cell phone instead, only to notice that my maid of honor (Carissa) had texted me saying, "Have fun :) remember whichever one you like i like too" Well, if any of you have a heart, you know what comes next. Tears.

That's great that you found one - although I must say that you are the most organized bride I know - it's still early in the game there girl :)
Well, I want to be able to take my dress home in April, and this dress will only be arriving in March. Then alterations have to be done, so... this is the plan for now!
Glad to have been a part of it little sis!
This is so exciting Whitney, I know it's none of my business, but now I really want to see your dress. I'm glad you found it.

I, the mother of the bride, still find it hard to believe my baby is getting married. The dress is beautiful, but the bride more beautiful:) Love you Whitney. Thanks for letting me be part of your dress shopping - it does mean alot to me since my mom couldn't be there for mine. We have many more fun days ahead of us!
