So the final fitting has come and gone as quick as a thought that was incredibly important that you forget as soon as you remember. Wow, say that ten times fast. So to sum up my final dress experience: sub par. It seems as though as soon as a dress shop makes the sale and swipes the Visa, the customer service descends into a vat of UN-awesomeness, just as we watched the fashion era of the 80s plummeted into a great abyss. Obviously, these are two very similar situations :P. Anyways, lucky for me, I did not have to face this alone. Thanks, Renee.
So, as I slip into the dress I notice that the train situation that I thought was being taken care of...was not. Last time, I made it clear that I did NOT want a train, and I wanted the ENTIRE thing removed. The seamstress told me she would leave just a bit because it finishes the dress. Blah Blah Blah. Whatever, that was fine. WELL, apparently, "a bit" means a foot. Lame. So as I stood with Renee debating on whether or not to blow a gasket or calmly accept the excess of fabric, we waited and waited and waited for someone to come by and direct us to a decision. Nope, who would care about a bride and the most important aesthetic aspect of her big day? No big deal.
Finally, the seamstress comes by to see 'how I was doing in my lovely princess dress' (insert British-y accent). "Not good. I'm planning on dragging this through the dirt on a FARM for pictures and dancing the night away. I was hoping the train would be shorter." And so it goes on until we agree on adding a bustle... sigh.
So there you have it. I'm not 100% sure this is my fault or theirs. I let them leave "a bit"; however, I'm kind of undecided. The bustle, I think, will be OK, but I would have rather had it off after the first alteration. Please add your thoughts, maybe some suggestions on what I should do.
